Local Installer Panel & Wi-Fi Management

The Local Panel is a lightweight, responsive web application served directly by the converter’s embedded lwIP HTTP server. It enables field electricians and service technicians to commission the device without requiring specialized desktop configuration software.

1. Commissioning via SoftAP Mode

When unconfigured or placed into setup mode (via service button), the converter broadcasts an encrypted Wi-Fi Access Point:

ParameterConfiguration
SSIDAslandi-Converter-XXXX (where XXXX is the last 4 characters of MAC)
SecurityWPA2-Personal (Pre-shared key printed on device hardware label)
Subnet192.168.4.0/24 (DHCP pool 192.168.4.2 – 192.168.4.10)
Gateway Addresshttp://192.168.4.1/

Core Web API Endpoints

All web UI actions invoke internal REST endpoints exposed by the FreeRTOS HTTP task:

EndpointMethodPurpose
/api/statusGETLive telemetry, uptime, memory, Wi-Fi RSSI, and cloud connection state.
/api/configGET / POSTReads or updates network parameters, polling intervals, and cloud credentials.
/api/meters/scanPOSTTriggers a rapid bus scan across Modbus slave addresses (1–50) and reports discovered meters.
/api/meters/testPOSTExecutes an immediate test read of a specific meter address and returns register values.
/api/timeGET / POSTSynchronizes the onboard RTC clock with browser local time or NTP server.

3. Strict Network Isolation Policy

To maintain cybersecurity compliance, the local panel enforces strict operational rules:

  1. Local Subnet Only: The web server binds exclusively to the local Wi-Fi interface (AP or dedicated local service VLAN). Direct routing from public WAN networks is prohibited.
  2. Session Security: All administrative modifications require the authenticated installer PIN.
  3. Automatic AP Timeout: If no client connects to the SoftAP within 15 minutes of device boot, the AP radio is automatically powered down to minimize RF exposure and power draw.
