Troubleshooting & Operational Runbook

This operational runbook provides field diagnostic playbooks for electricians, installers, and remote support engineers troubleshooting the Aslandi Edge Converter.

2. Deep-Dive Field Diagnostics

A. RS-485 Communication Loss

  1. Check Bus Voltage: When idle, the non-inverting terminal ($A$) should measure approximately $+2.5\text{ V}$ to $+3.3\text{ V}$, and inverting terminal ($B$) should measure $+1.5\text{ V}$ to $+2.5\text{ V}$.
  2. Termination Resistors: A long RS-485 daisy chain requires exactly two $120\ \Omega$ termination resistors — one at the converter and one at the final physical meter on the bus. Unpowered resistance between $A$ and $B$ across the bus should measure approximately $60\ \Omega$.
  3. Meter Slave Address Conflict: Ensure each meter on Channel 0 has a unique slave ID in the range 1 to 50.

B. MicroSD Card Recovery Procedure

If the converter flags ALARM_SD_CORRUPTED:

  1. Power down the converter.
  2. Remove the microSD card and insert it into a diagnostic PC.
  3. If partition is unreadable, reformat the card using the official SD Card Formatter tool.
  4. Re-insert the card and power on the converter. The firmware automatically detects the clean card, generates fresh encryption sectors, and resumes mirroring.

3. Hardware Factory Reset

To restore the converter to factory default settings (clearing Wi-Fi credentials and resetting to SoftAP mode):
